Devices that are still functional are analyzed to understand whether they can generate value through refurbishment, remarketing or repurchase, rather than ending up directly in disposal.
The service starts with a planning phase that takes into account the quantity of devices, their distribution in the customer's premises and any needs related to operational continuity. MGK Tech coordinates technical activities and records assets assessed for retirement and recovery.
Before the intervention, MGK Tech carries out the mapping of the assets to be disposed of. For each device, the type, serial number, physical and functional state and the presence of residual data on hard disk, SSD or other internal media are detected. The inventory allows the client company to have an updated list of registered assets, which can be used for internal reporting and as a support for its administrative procedures.
In contexts where the company already has an internal inventory with serial numbers and serial numbers, MGK Tech integrates the existing data into its traceability system, reducing operating times and maintaining consistency between the product report and the customer documentation.

The presence of company data on hard disks, SSDs and other storage media makes the management of decommissioned IT devices an issue that directly concerns information security and compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 on the protection of personal data. A company PC sold, reused or removed from the IT fleet without secure data deletion can expose the organization to legal, operational and reputational risks, especially when personal data, credentials, internal documents or confidential information are present on the media.
For working storage media, MGK Tech applies secure erasure procedures based on the type of media, the state of the device and the level of documentation required. For HDD, SSD and compatible media, the process may involve data wiping using dedicated software, secure erase or sanitize commands or cryptographic deletion, when supported by the device. The procedures are defined by referring to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2, technical standard for the sanitization of digital media.
Upon request, data deletion can also be performed onsite, directly at the customer's premises. This mode allows you to process PCs, notebooks, servers, hard disks and other storage media without transferring them externally, maintaining traceability of the operations carried out.
At the end of the processing, a cancellation certificate may be issued containing the identification data of the medium, the serial number, the method applied and the outcome of the procedure. The documentation can be used for internal reporting, for audit activities and for checks required by IT, privacy or compliance functions.
Certifiable deletion allows devices that are still functioning to be allocated for reuse, refurbishment, remarketing or repurchase, reducing the risk of information exposure and preserving the residual value of the hardware.
When media is damaged, undetectable, or cannot be reliably erased by software, non-reversible procedures appropriate to the device technology may be employed. Degaussing can be used for magnetic HDDs, while physical destruction can be used for SSDs, unreadable drives or unrecoverable media.
In these cases the support is rendered unusable, with registration of the intervention and, when required, photographic documentation and certification of destruction linked to the serial numbers treated. This procedure is suitable for damaged media, which cannot be verified via software or for organizations that require a higher level of guarantee in the permanent deletion of data.

Notebooks, desktop PCs, servers and monitors that retain adequate technical and functional characteristics can be reconditioned and put back on the market through hardware remarketing channels, allowing the selling company to recover part of the residual value. The evaluation of reusable hardware takes into account several parameters: year of production, physical and functional state, technical characteristics, such as processor, RAM and storage capacity, condition of the notebook and monitor screen and any anomalies or damage. For devices that have requirements compatible with recovery, MGK Tech can formulate a repurchase proposal or proceed with reconditioning and subsequent re-marketing through its own channels.
The repurchase of reusable hardware allows the company to obtain an economic return from devices no longer used. The recognized value depends on the quantity of the assets, their conditions, the technical characteristics and the overall composition of the lot. For an initial evaluation it is possible to send a list of devices with type, year, configuration and state of conservation.
The IT asset management service concerns the main categories of corporate IT equipment that have characteristics compatible with reuse, reconditioning or economic valorisation. The evaluation may involve homogeneous or mixed batches, from small quantities to IT parks made up of multiple types of devices.
Notebooks, desktop PCs, workstations, rack and tower servers, storage devices, monitors, network equipment, hard disks, SSDs and other storage media can be tested. For different equipment or for lots that include categories not listed, it is possible to request a preliminary evaluation indicating quantities, characteristics and conditions of the devices.
Devices that do not have characteristics compatible with reuse, reconditioning or remarketing are not taken care of as part of the service. The preliminary evaluation allows us to distinguish assets that can still be exploited from those without potential use on the secondary market.
Equipment not suitable for recovery remains at the disposal of the owner company, which can independently entrust it to an authorized operator for subsequent management activities. To start the evaluation of IT assets, simply provide a general indication of the fleet of devices to be managed, specifying the type, estimated quantity and location. It is not necessary to have an already complete inventory: the census can also be organized at a later stage, based on the characteristics of the lot.
